Shubh Days to Advertise: The 2026–27 Festive Muhurat Calendar for Brands
Indians buy cars on Dussehra, gold on Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya, and homes at Ganesh Chaturthi. Every shubh day from now to Diwali 2027, what people buy, and the week your brand must be seen.
In India, the luckiest day to advertise is usually not the auspicious day itself. It is the week before it.
Indian families plan big purchases around shubh (auspicious) days. They buy a car on Dussehra, gold on Dhanteras, and new account books on Diwali, and weddings start again after Dev Uthani Ekadashi. When those days come, the shopper has already chosen where to buy. That choice is made in the days before, and that is when your advertising has to be seen.
This guide gives you the shubh days of the 2026 festive season and the whole of 2027, what people buy on each one, and when your brand should be visible.
Why shubh days matter to advertisers
The numbers show how strongly buying is pulled towards auspicious days:
- Navratri 2025 was the best in a decade for vehicles. The dealers' body FADA reported that two-wheeler sales during Navratri grew 36%, to over 8.3 lakh units. Government sources said Maruti Suzuki delivered more than 2 lakh cars in the period. (Lower GST rates helped that year, so it is not a normal baseline. The pattern of buying on festival days is the point.)
- Dussehra is the single biggest delivery day. Dealers have long said customers insist on driving home a new car on Dussehra, and many book during Shraddh so they can take delivery that day. Honda's two-wheeler arm once reported over one lakh retail sales on Dussehra alone.
- The whole season is huge. The roughly 42 days from Navratri to the end of Diwali have been estimated to bring about a quarter of a year's car and two-wheeler volumes.
The same thing happens with gold, electronics, homes, clothes and sweets. Demand is bunched onto a few days, and the brands people remember on those days are the ones they saw in the days before.
The 2026 shubh-day calendar for advertisers
Dates follow widely used panchangs (Drik Panchang and Bengali panjikas). Timings change from city to city, so check your local panjika or priest if exact muhurat times matter to you.

Days families avoid matter too. Many Hindu families avoid new purchases during Pitru Paksha (which ended at Mahalaya) and during Kharmas, roughly mid-December to Makar Sankranti (14–15 January). Wedding, property and vehicle buyers often delay decisions in those weeks. Brands in those categories should advertise just before Kharmas starts and again as it ends, and spend less in between.
The 7-day rule
For most purchases, the customer decides in the 5–10 days before the shubh day and buys on the day. So:
- Book the space two to three weeks ahead. Artwork approval, printing and installation take time.
- Be up and visible seven days before. This is the "Be seen from" column in the table.
- Change the message on the day. "Book today, deliver on Dhanteras" before the day, and "Open till midnight" or "Last day of offer" on the day.
The same rule applies whether you use a puja pandal, a hoarding, a WhatsApp campaign or Instagram ads. Pandals have an extra advantage: the shubh days and the puja crowds fall in the same week.

The festive season is the biggest window, but not the only one. These are the shubh days to plan around in 2027:

Two things stand out in 2027. Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra and Diwali fall within 30 days, so one campaign can run through all four. And Durga Puja comes about twelve days earlier than in 2026, so artwork and bookings must be ready earlier. A word on "lucky"
A shubh day does not make an advertisement work. What it does is put millions of buyers in the market on the same few days. That is the luck. Your job is to be in front of them a week earlier, in a place they are already looking, with an offer that matches what they came to buy.
Puja pandals are often the best such place, because the crowds and the shubh days arrive together.

What is the best day to advertise during Diwali 2026?
Dhanteras is on Friday 6 November and Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026. Be visible from about 28 October, a week before Dhanteras, because most shoppers decide where to buy before the day.
When is Pushya Nakshatra in 2026 before Diwali?
Drik Panchang places it from the evening of Saturday 31 October to the morning of Sunday 1 November 2026. Some lists give a different October date, so check your local panchang.
Which days are lucky for launching a new product or shop?
Many businesses choose Navratri, Dussehra, Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras, Diwali or Poila Boishakh. Ask your family priest for the exact muhurat. Book your advertising space two to three weeks before the launch.
Which days should I spend less on advertising?
Pitru Paksha and Kharmas (roughly mid-December to 14–15 January) are when many families delay big purchases. Weddings, property and vehicle sales are usually slower then.
