How Much Does It Cost to Sponsor a Durga Puja?
A direct answer with real numbers. Prices by unit and pandal size, four worked budgets from ₹5,000 to ₹5,00,000, what makes prices move, and the hidden costs nobody quotes you.

Short answer: between ₹3,000 and ₹5,00,000, and for most brands the useful range is ₹5,000 to ₹50,000.
A banner package at a neighbourhood puja starts around ₹3,000 to ₹5,000. A main gate at an established locality puja runs ₹15,000 to ₹40,000. Title sponsorship of a well known Kolkata pandal begins around ₹2,00,000 and rises into crores at the marquee names.
That is the answer. The rest of this page is the detail behind it, because the range is wide for reasons you can control.
Prices by unit
Committees set their own rates. These bands reflect what we observe on listed pandals:
| Unit | Neighbourhood puja | Established puja | Well known puja | |---|---|---|---| | Banner package | ₹3,000 – ₹8,000 | ₹5,000 – ₹20,000 | ₹15,000+ | | Single flex position | ₹1,000 – ₹4,000 | ₹3,000 – ₹12,000 | ₹8,000 – ₹30,000 | | Pillar or pole | ₹2,000 – ₹6,000 | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 | ₹15,000+ | | Stall space | ₹3,000 – ₹12,000 | ₹10,000 – ₹40,000 | ₹40,000+ | | Stage backdrop, sole | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 | ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 | ₹40,000+ | | Main gate | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 | ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 | ₹40,000 – ₹2,00,000 | | LED slot, full festival | ₹8,000 – ₹20,000 | ₹20,000 – ₹60,000 | ₹60,000+ | | Title sponsorship | ₹25,000 – ₹75,000 | ₹75,000 – ₹3,00,000 | ₹2,00,000 – crores |

What actually moves the price
Five factors, roughly in order of impact.
1. Footfall. The dominant variable. A pandal drawing 100,000 a day charges twenty times one drawing 3,000, and broadly it should.
2. Fame. Independent of footfall. A pandal with a reputation, press coverage and a theme people travel for charges a premium for association, not just eyeballs. Whether that premium is worth it depends entirely on whether you need the prestige.
3. Location within the venue. A gate is worth several times a banner at the same pandal. Position inside a category — a road facing gate versus a side gate — can double the price.
4. Exclusivity. Sole placement typically costs two to three times shared. This is the term most often left ambiguous, and the one most worth clarifying.
5. Timing. Prices are firmest in June and July when demand is highest. In the final three weeks, committees holding unsold space become markedly more flexible.
Four worked budgets
₹5,000 — one local puja, presence only A banner package covering several positions around one neighbourhood pandal. Roughly 25,000 exposures across five days at a puja drawing 5,000 a day. Right for a shop, clinic or coaching centre within walking distance. This is the entry point and it is a real one.
₹25,000 — one puja, properly A main gate at an established puja (₹15,000–₹25,000), or a gate at a smaller puja plus a banner spread. Adds status and photographs to the presence. Right for a showroom, a dealership, a local chain. See sponsoring a local puja under ₹25,000.
₹1,00,000 — one locality, several pandals Gates at three or four pujas across the area you serve, plus flex on the approach roads between them. This is where a campaign starts behaving like a campaign — repeated exposure to the same people at multiple venues. Right for a regional chain or a hospital.
₹5,00,000 — a city, with an activation Ten to fifteen pandals, a staffed stall programme at the largest three or four, stage sponsorship at two, plus photography and a measurement plan. Right for an FMCG trial push or a category launch. Requires booking from May.
The costs nobody quotes you
The sponsorship fee is not the campaign cost. Budget these separately.
Artwork and printing. Committees usually print, and often include it — but confirm. If not, large format flex printing runs roughly ₹12 to ₹25 per square foot. Design, if you do not have it in house, ₹3,000 to ₹15,000.
Stall operations. The big one. A ₹10,000 stall space realistically becomes ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 once you add canopy, furniture, branding, staff for five twelve hour days, samples and transport. The stall guide works this through line by line.
Staff and supervision. Somebody has to check the branding went up correctly. If you are buying across several pandals, that is a person for several days.
Photography. If you want usable content rather than committee phone snaps, a photographer for two evenings runs ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. Worth it — those images are your collateral for the next year.
Platform or agency fees. On PujaSathi a small platform fee is added at checkout and the full total is shown before you confirm, so there is nothing to discover afterwards. An agency will typically add 15 to 20 per cent.
GST. Depends on the committee's registration status and yours. Ask before budgeting, and confirm with your accountant.
Is it worth it?
The honest comparison. A ₹25,000 gate at a puja drawing 20,000 people a day over five days generates on the order of 100,000 exposures — a cost per thousand in the low hundreds of rupees, with dwell time measured in minutes and an association with a trusted local institution.
Against digital, the CPM is not dramatically better or worse. What differs is the nature of the exposure: physical presence, at an occasion the viewer chose to attend, with implied community endorsement. That is the thing you are actually buying, and it is not available on any auction. The full CPM comparison is in the advertising cost guide.
What it will not do is give you attribution. If your marketing is judged purely on tracked conversions, set expectations before you buy — how to measure festival sponsorship ROI explains what can and cannot be measured.
How to spend less
- Buy outside central Kolkata. Howrah, Durgapur, Asansol and Siliguri deliver comparable footfall at a fraction of the price.
- Buy in the last two weeks if you can accept what is left.
- Ask for a package price across several positions — discounts of 20 to 40 per cent are common and rarely volunteered.
- Offer in kind. Prizes, water, seating or printing often buy more branding per rupee than cash.
- Sponsor the prizes at a cultural competition. Frequently cheaper than a banner and considerably more memorable.
- Choose the nearby puja over the famous one. The most expensive mistake small advertisers make is paying for reach they cannot serve.

The short version
Most brands should budget ₹5,000 to ₹50,000 for a meaningful Durga Puja presence. The sponsorship fee is rarely the whole cost, especially for stalls. Buy outside the famous names, ask for package pricing, and confirm exclusivity before you pay.
